Prestigious university sports centre is kept flowing by BLUCHER stainless steel drainage solutions

Construction work is nearly complete on the site of the £16 million Phase One of the Cambridge University Sports Centre where BLUCHER channels, drains and BLUCHER EuroPipe push fit pipework have been installed throughout the project designed by Arup Associates.

Receiving its visitors in a wide and spacious lobby and lounge complete with audio-visual area, phase one of the Cambridge Sports Centre will offer its users a host of modern sporting facilities. At the centre of the new facility will be a sports hall the size of two full size basketball courts which will offer facilities for a host of other court games including, volleyball, football, boxing and badminton.  A vast array of cardiovascular exercise equipment will be housed in a fitness suite overlooking the lobby with a wing dedicated to strength and conditioning as well as a multipurpose room providing facilities for floor based activities such as martial arts, yoga and gymnastics.

BLUCHER stainless steel channels and drains for tiled floors complete with heal safe shower grates, filters and removable water traps have been supplied and installed in all the changing and shower areas, offering safe service with low maintenance for years to come.  In addition to the standard channels and drains, BLUCHER also supplied BLUCHER EuroPipe push fit stainless steel system for the wastes for the sinks as well as bespoke low cost 250mm OD swan neck bends to compliment the standard pipes and bends used as part of the gravity rainwater system.

The project, which started on the 1st of May 2012 and was topped out in March this year, is due for official opening in late summer, ready for the next influx of new students and members of the public alike.
