Stainless steel supermarket drainage for new Morrisons Store at Five ways Birmingham

Construction work is gathering pace on the new Morrisons store at Five Ways, Birmingham which is due to open before Christmas 2012.  As well as the usual fish and meat counters the store will also feature a customer café and a mutli story parking facility providing 330 spaces.  In addition there will be 5 retail units for let and office accommodation.

BLÜCHER UK Ltd supplied channels and drains to the project last week. The drains were in stock and ready to deliver and the channels were produced within 2 weeks of the order being placed.

David Darbyshire, Project Manager for Wm Morrison Supermarkets said that the five ways development will be a flagship store for Morrisons and went on to comment;
“Five Ways is at the gateway of one of Birmingham City Centre’s main arterial commuter routes and close to Harborne, Edgbaston and City Centre homes and businesses.  It is an ideal location to position one of our new format stores that will sell a full fresh food and grocery offer.  We have commissioned Davis Weatherill Partnership, who are Birmingham based Architects, on what will be an impressive landmark development with a stunning frontage onto the Hagley Road.”

Stephen Davis, Partner at Davis Weatherill said, “There has been an involved and creative process to produce an innovative design.  The scheme will sit next to Edgbaston’s Conservation Area, on one side and the commercially based Hagley road on the other.  The old Edgbaston Shopping Centre reached the end of its useful life and this new development will be an attractive shopping destination ideally located for commuters and people living and working in the area.”

Calthorpe Estates believes that the new Morrisons store will have a positive effect on the local area;

“From our consultations with the community, we received strong support for a new retail destination, which we believe will create a new centre and heart for Edgbaston.  Our local businesses and residents are looking forward to having more choice and the convenience of shopping at Five Ways.”
